FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

Are you affiliated with the Toronto Vegetarian Association?
While I love what the TVA does, and their events are often promoted here, it is only fair to state that in no way is Toronto Vegetarian associated with the Toronto Vegetarian Association.

But if you really want to get confused, I interviewed them a few years ago (you can read that article here), and that piece ran in their newsletter a few months later. Other than that, no connection. But they are awesome.

How do restaurants get chosen for review?
This process is pretty straightforward.

Usually The Husband or I get hungry and decide to go out for dinner. As a vegetarian, wherever we go has to have something I can eat on the menu. Depending on the meal, I may choose to record the experience. If it was an intentional 12-in-12 pick (usually chosen a few days in advance), it will get always get reviewed. Other excursions may be noted if they are a good find or interesting.

Who pays for the costs of your meals when you review a restaurant?
I do. The Husband does. If guests are involved, they might go halvesies with us. Who doesn’t pay for our meals? The establishment in question.

What is your policy on product placements and freebies?
Products you see on Toronto Vegetarian are products I use and enjoy in my everyday life. They are bought and paid for by myself. When something is recommended on this site, it’s because I feel it is worthy of mention.

From time to time, I do get approached by companies to “test out” new products. To date, none of these products have made it into the blog. Why would I recommend something if I don’t even use it?

That said, it’s possible something will get sent to me which absolutely blows my mind. If this happens, it will be disclosed as having been a freebie. It’s really that simple.
